The Department of Statistics was established in June 1989 along with Department of Mathematics. The department has two sanctioned posts. Currently the department is taught to the undergraduate courses B.Sc-I, B.Sc-II, B.Com-II and also B.C.A.-II.

The department uses well-equipped computer laboratory provided at department of computer science where the students get the opportunity and space to connect theoretical knowledge with practical learning. The department has one computer with scanner printer for faculty use. There is a common projector in ‘Mathematics and Statistics lab’ for both the department of Statistics and the department of Mathematics for digital use. The department has 20 scientific calculators and 20 statistical tables.

The department conducts the SUSTA quiz for strengthening the awareness of Statistics among the undergraduate students conducted by Shivaji University. Department celebrates National Statistics Day on the occasion of birth anniversary of P. C. Mahalanobis on 29^th June on every year. The department organizes study tour for BSc-II class.

1. To enable the students to acquire the basic skills in statistical techniques.
2. To give clear understandings of concepts of statistics.
3. To encourage the students to use statistics in day to day life.
4. To  encourage  the  students  to  use  statistical  skills & knowledge   in  computer  applications & programming.
5. To provide additional knowledge to our students by signing MOU and Linkages with Various institutions. 
6. To provide essential computer education to use statistical tools in emerging technologies.
